
Bank of America has partnered with the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank to provide a $10,000 grant for a school pantry program for Monitor Elementary School in Springdale. A group of associated recently spent a day packing food boxes and then working the school pantry to get them directly to the families at the school.
The school pantry, a first for the Food Bank, began operating in February 2019, and with the continued support of Bank of America is continuing again this school year. According to the school district, 89 percent of Monitor Elementary students quality for free or reduced breakfast and lunch, which is served at the school. The school pantry program helps fill the dinner gap by providing nutritious food for the entire family. The pantry distributes around 200 boxes of food per month, each of which contains around 18 pounds that can include canned vegetables, rice, canned fruit, cereal and juice, in addition to protein and produce.

The Monitor Elementary pantry is operated each month.
