Pastor Beverly is always looking for opportunities to plant seeds of change in her community, whether it’s preparing the garden for the spring or ensuring the Full Faith Ministries pantry shelves are stocked.
“I can’t do everything, but everybody can do something,” Pastor Beverly said. “That’s our goal, and that’s our motto. If everybody would just do something, then the world would be a better place.”
As an agency partner of the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, Full Faith Ministries distributes the food they receive to anyone in need. There are no residency requirements or restrictions on how often someone can visit.
Located in Holiday Island a few miles outside of Eureka Springs, the church has transformed its food pantry over the years to meet the need. The pantry first started in a storage closet and then operated in a drive-through format.
Their current format, a client-choice pantry, followed unexpected tragedy. In 2022, the pantry building burned down.
“Everything in the freezer was ruined,” Pastor Beverly said. “... Even though it was inside this stainless-steel freezer, it still cooked it. That’s how hot the fire was.”
The church had to start over from scratch, but with this fresh start came new ideas and dreams. They built a new two-story building, with the client-choice pantry on the first floor. The second floor has plans to be residential recovery program. They are also constructing a kitchen to run a hot meal program.
In January 2024, Full Faith Ministries opened their new client-choice pantry where neighbors can pick what they want from a variety of food options directly from the shelves and coolers.
“People are loving it,” Beverly said. “They get to come in and choose their own food.”
This year is also the third iteration of the church’s garden. Beverly has worked with Haley, Gardening and Nutrition Manager at the Northwest Food Bank, to grow fresh produce to supplement the food pantry offerings.
“Haley worked with us and taught me a lot of things and put me in touch with the right people,” Beverly said. “Last year, we were able to, at every pantry, give out either okra, tomatoes or peppers.”
Through every avenue, Full Faith Ministries wants to build relationships in the community, to see people beyond their need through to their full potential.
“That has always been our goal, not to just feed them, but to really make a difference.”
Full Faith Ministries is open every Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. They are located at 7090 AR-23 in Holiday Island and can be contacted at 479-253-4205.
