Corporations looking for a team building project for this fall should consider working on the third annual Spectrum Brands Food Drive Challenge.
The challenge, which supports the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, allows corporations to use team building to get involved with food issues, said Mike Williams, director of development for the Food Bank.
“This is a perfect chance to do team building as well as help those with food insecurities in Northwest Arkansas,” he said. “While the challenge isn’t until November, now is the time to start the planning process.”
Spectrum Brands is the host for the program.
The challenge, which is set for Nov. 1 to Nov. 16, will see a change from the past. This year’s format will be broken down into small, medium and large corporations, rather than one division.
This is a way to get better team building opportunities for the participants and to help the community, said Williams.
Participants in the second annual Spectrum Brands Corporate Food Drive Challenge collected 133,675 pounds of food. The goal for this year is to grow to 17 companies and collect 250,000 pounds of food.
In addition to Spectrum Brands, the 16 other participants in last year’s challenge are Cargill, Castrol Oil, Englander, Signature Bank of Arkansas, Johnson Controls, Smuckers, General Mills, Kraft Heinz, Shell Lubricants, Newell Brands, PepsiCo, Simmons Bank, Unilever, ITW, Johnson & Johnson and Mondelez International.
Companies interested in participating in this year’s Challenge should contact Mike Williams at mike.williams@nwafoodbank.org.
There are more than 63,000 people with food insecurities in the four counties -- Benton, Carroll, Madison and Washington – served by the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank and its more than 160 partner agencies.
